Abstract Background and aim There are no reports of quantitative evaluation metabolic changes in the mammary gland after radiation therapy. The purpose this study was to investigate ipsilateral therapy evaluate late effects. Patients methods Metabolic contralateral glands were retrospectively evaluated by F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/CT whole breast irradiation following lumpectomy five cancer patients. maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax) (S1) (S0) measured. relative SUVmax (= S1/S0) measured immediately before, one year after, three years Results decreased gradually, but there decrease gland.
